Cremona has been, for five centuries, the capital city of violin-making. At the Violin’s Museum you can discover the past and present of this excellent handicraft production, included in the Intangible UNESCO Heritage, through the direct contact with the great Masters and their masterpieces, following a well-balanced track of creativity and tradition, skills and knowledge, never stopped from the late Renaissance till today.

In the “treasure box” and in the room “friends of Stradivari” are displayed some artworks by Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri: it is the best collection in the world. Only here you can admire more than 700 drawings, shapes and tools used by Stradivari in his workshop. The modern and contemporary age is presented through the history of the violins, violas, cellos and counter basses awarded during the exhibition-competition promoted in Cremona in 1937 and during the International Triennial Competition (since 1976), the real Olympic Games of Violin-Making.

The perfect stage for the collections’ instruments is the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi, a unique and fascinating place, where aesthetics and function are perfectly mixed. Here, in the week-end, you can listen to the sound of the Stradivari’s violins, played by extremely talented musicians. It is a very involving experience.

Archaeological Museum "San Lorenzo"

Located in a Church of the 13th Century, it is a museum in the museum. Inside of it you can find a domus displayed exactly as it was found during the excavation campaign.

Natural History Museum

A real special attraction for young people and grown-ups. Come and discover the minerals, the fossils and the small environmental settings containing some species typical of our territory.
